At the end of June, Andy Shaw, on behalf of the Directors of Camelot Country Community Interest Company was delighted to receive the keys to the 14 properties of this low cost housing development. These houses are now ready for sale to local people.
The Directors, who are members of the Delabole Development Group and the Camelford Forum, set up a Community Land Trust in order to achieve the provision of these new homes. The project has taken 8 years to achieve. Do you remember the Delabole Questionnaire sent out all those years ago? One of the main priorities identified by your answers was to address the problem of the lack of homes that local people could afford. Well, here they are!
Andy Shaw thanked the project manager, Alan Fox, of the Community Land Trust, Brian Phaby of Wm.G Weller and Sons Ltd. the Trust's agent, Gareth Burt the architect, Mi-space (U.K) Ltd. the contractor, and Tim Beattie the site manager. He also thanked other members of the team, all of whom had helped to deliver the project on time and within budget, and Charity Bank and Cornwall Council, who had provided loans.
County Councillors Mark Kackmarek and John Lugg attended, and Mark planted a commemorative tree.
The houses were open for inspection and they now await their new owners! Do go down to The Sidings, turn right, and take a look. If you would like more details or a viewing appointment, please contact Cole Raymont and White Camelford, 01840 213333.
Please contact one of the Directors if you have any ideas about future community projects.
They are: Andy Shaw, Chris Keat, Chris Hore, Johnathon Holt, Peter Edwards, Simon Swale and Ann Hopkins.
